Tiny cornrow braids :) They’re not yet microbraids, but these took soooo many hours to do. Every time I’ve ever done a read through of the Wheel of Time I’ve wanted a bunch of Taraboner braids with beads (and every time I’ve magically sprouted braids from my head, amazing I know…)
I’d always read that the smaller they are, the better they hold up, and this does seem to actually be the case. They’re three days and a shower old now, though, and still holding up amazingly well! Usually even slightly thicker braids would have been falling to pieces on me by now :) Every one of them is thin enough for a row of beads! I’ve never managed that before. My hair makes such satisfying, dramatic clinking when I shake me head in any way :D There are 40 all told. NEXT TIME there will be 80! Maybe after I figure out how extensions work….
Coral and Turquoise Nails :)
My momma told me to do this color scheme, so this is what I did! A turquoise base, dipped in black on water that had been spritzed with alcohol to break it up, followed by a coral color I mixed and chrome lines. Then I went back and used the red and orange I’d used to make the coral color to make the little lines in the coral :)
Chrome and Cobalt Toes :)
(Incidentally, this is the same cobalt I used on my finger nails only it’s over chrome polish instead of chrome mylar :)
I’m finally back! Having a broken computer & insubordinate cell phone makes Tumblr access difficult. This here is just a little something for game day & casual Friday.

My nail tips work as magnifying glass xD Totally accidental, but I think that’s so nifty! (don’t mind my camera casually typing a billion k’s in the next window >.>)
Sapphire Drip Nails for the nailpornography Sapphire Birthstone NOTW contest! I had way too much fun trying to get pictures looking through them at things all day xD
Mylar swoosh with a faceted pattern cut into it planted in base coat and topped with top coat before using my most sapphire blue (Nina Ultra Pro Cobalt, it’s baaaad assss) and more top coat. Then covered that in base/clear uv/gems/uv top coat with the UV lamp.
Oil Slick Nails!
These were achieved by putting a couple drips of 5 metallic colors on each nail (one at a time) and then gently swirling them with a small brush until they covered the whole nail — then several layers of topcoat. The colors are bulky and take a while to dry, but it’s soooo shiny and easy!
Today I tried out highlights for the first time, using Raw Color’s Twisted Teal as the highlights and Deep Purple as the base. Foiling is apparently an artform that looks waaaay easier than it actually is, and I gave up halfway through in favor of randomly picking sections of hair and tealing them up without worrying if I got it on the hair waiting to be purple-d. There are still some cool highlights :) It looks more deep blue and sky blue in the pictures, but it’s more violet with primary blue highlights IRL… which is nice I think :D I got sick of looking for green dye that wasn’t teal or aqua or super pale lime and just went ahead and used colors I already had on hand. (my roots were seriously 5-6” long…)
